WORLDWIDECOCKTAILCLUB

If you only go to one bar in Barcelona, this is it. Across the street from the top of Las Ramblas. Barcelona's oldest cocktail bar. Bartenders in black jackets. Maria Delores' father opened it 73 years ago after working at Florida in Havana. She was born the next year. She's still behind the bar there. So is our (considerablyyounger) friend Albert. The only bar in the world that has consistently maintained the ‘throwing’ technique of mixing cocktails – how all cocktails were prepared before the invention of the cocktail shaker. (Boadas, Tallers 1, Barcelona 08001, Tel: 34-93 31895 92, Hours: 12pm - 2am, Closed Sunday)The Caribbean Club -- A tiny hole-in-the-wall bar around the corner from Boadas (same owners, ask at Boadas for directions) in a 12th century building, it has a great shaker collection, and even better shakers custom made for the bar. Serious rum collection. Toward the back in a case there's a little piece of the battleship Maine, from Havana harbor. Don't mistake the slightly larger pub next door for this place. (Caribbean Club, Sitges, 5, Barcelona, 08001, Tel +34 93 3022182)Dry Martini -- Bartenders in white jackets. The back bar is completely stocked with vintage bottles, not a new one on it. If I recall correctly you have to work there 25 years before you're allowed to make a martini for a customer. Also, check out Speakeasy restaurant – through the kitchen at Dry Martini – blink and you’ll miss it! (Dry Martini, Aribau, 162, Barcelona, 08036, Tel +34 93 2175072, Hours: 6:30pm - 2:30am, Closed Sunday, HYPERLINK http:// http://HYPERLINK www.drymartinibcn.com www.drymartinibcn.com)Ideal Bar -- Want to see another place where bartenders in white jackets turn out flawless cocktails for appreciative locals? I was in awe watching the bartender deftly cut and place a lemon wedge with tongs and a knife faster than I could do with my bare hands and a knife. (Aribau, 89, 08036, Tel: 34-93 453 10 28, Hours: 12:00 - 2:30, Closed Sunday)Tirsa -- this one's kind of out of the way, but the room is gorgeous, as is the bar. Head of the local IBA has a small private seating area for industry people. The hidden upstairs room is also pretty cool.(Tirsa Cocktail-Bar, C/ Rafael de Campalans, 174, 08903 L'Hospitalet, Tel. 934312302)Bars & restaurants:Bar Bodega TeoLizzi and Rafa (ex Lab) own this little place. Its on Ataulfo, which is a bit hard to find, but well worth getting a bit lost to spend an evening with these lovely people!Santa MariaComerc 17 HYPERLINK "http://www.santamania.biz" http://www.santamania.biz/One of the best restaurant experience in the city. Sit at the bar, order the degustation menu (about 12 courses for 30euros!!!) , and watch the masters at work in the kitchen while friendly staff recommend a fantastic rioja. Bliss.Commerç 24On Comerc (number 24) HYPERLINK "http://www.comerc24.com/english/index.html" http://www.comerc24.com/english/index.htmlAnother restaurant - The owner/chef Carles Abellan is a disciple of, and was trained by, Ferran Adria of El Bulli. Amazing fine dining tapas in a beautiful restaurant - another inspiration for our first floor space/menu! You will have to book in advance.Hotel Omm HYPERLINK "http://www.hotelomm.es" http://www.hotelomm.es/Lovely hotel, beautiful space. Bar great and pretty modern. Check out the michelin star restaurant, Moo, and again go for the degustation option.Gimlet.Great little bar. Just off Placa Del Born. Very small (like most of the best bars in Barcelona) and serving great drinks in an old school environment with modern touches…Publicado por Cocktails Montserrat los 2:13
